What is purpose? According to Webster a purpose is something one intends to get or do; intention; aim. It is also resolution; determination. When you have a purpose in mind it gives the thing you are striving for meaning. What is your purpose in life? What are you striving for? Are you living a purposeful life? Let's define purposeful – resolutely aiming at a specific goal; directed toward a specific end, not meaningless.
What is my purpose in the earth?
Why do I exist?
These are all questions that we have asked ourselves one time or another. We all have the desire to be fulfilled and bring meaning to our very existence. The next series of questions are usually what comes next.
What brings me fulfillment in my life?
How do I live life to the fullest?
How can I sustain peace and joy in my life?
To answer these questions truthfully we must examine ourselves completely to the very center of who we are and the center of our heart. We must first look at how we got to this point and who is responsible for our existence. If we don't get answers to these questions we have the potential to find fulfillment in things and people that were never intended to influence our purpose in life. Your life is not an accident. Your life is not a mistake. There is a distinct blueprint of all of our lives that list every detailed specification of who we are and what we are to do in life. Understand that if there is a blueprint for your life then that means there is someone that is responsible for designing you. That same person had a purpose in mind for us to fulfill. Remember, that which is created has a creator that put thought and effort into their creation with a purpose in mind. What is created cannot find fulfillment and satisfaction by just existing for itself alone.
Life with a purpose is a life with meaning. It is a life that has specific goals to be accomplished. If you know it or not you were put on this earth for a purpose and to fulfill a purpose. God has a plan for each of our lives. He had a plan even before He placed us in our mother's womb.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
He has mapped out lives. It is our job to seek Him to find our destiny. Most of the time our destiny is the very thing that makes us happy and feel fulfilled. It does not matter how significant or insignificant it may seem. As long as you are pleasing God in your actions and you feel a sense of fulfillment or enjoyment you are on the right track. Never belittle your life purpose because it can make a significant impact on people that you come in contact with. So if your passion is making sure your family is taken care of do it with all of your heart. Your very actions can help another person in need. You may even be able to teach them how to better care for their family with things you have learned over the years. This may be your contribution, but it is making major impact on the lives of others that need to know how.
Live your life with a purpose by knowing that what you do can make a significant change in someone's life for the better.
