24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24 KJV
24For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it]. Mark 11:24 Amplified Version
Have you ever wondered why some people are so successful and others are not? Have you ever wanted to know how to be successful in everything you put your hands to do? Well, today you are going to get a glimpse into the world of success at its best. As some of you may know, I love to pull my inspiration from the Bible and work on putting all of its teachings and principles in use in my life. The above scripture in Mark 11:24 is basis for my article today – Ask, Believe & Receive. You don't have to be a Christian to understand this principle and it can be applied in your life as simply asking, believing and receiving.
Most people that are successful are people that know what they want (ask), work hard to achieve it (believe) and succeed (receive). So we see that the first step to applying this principle is to know what you want. Have you sat down to write out what it is you want out of your personal or professional life?
Successful people know what they want! When you have sat down to make your list, this list becomes what you are asking to take place in your life. As a Christian, I would take all of these things before God in prayer and ask for what my heart desires. One key principle in the asking is to ask ONCE! I heard someone refer to it like a child that continues to ask mom or dad over and over and over and over again. What happens? Mom and Dad become frustrated with the repeated asking. This is likely to result in a NO answer – know what you want, ask and move on to the next step.
The next step is to believe. When you believe that you can achieve what you want then you work hard to accomplish it. You push pass setbacks and continue to move forward towards the goal. As a Christian, when I have asked God for what I want I activate my Faith in Him to bring it to pass. I believe I can achieve this goal even when setbacks come. With every step I take forward my faith increases. With every step you take your faith in yourself should increase. One key principle in the asking is not to concentrate on the how it is going to happen. A lot of times we concentrate too hard on how am I going to accomplish this or how in the world is this going to come to pass. It is not your job to concentrate on the little details – just keep moving towards the prize.
The last step is receiving. This is the final step to getting what you desire. While you are working to achieve your goal you need to also prepare to receive what you have asked. If you truly believe that you will accomplish your goal you must prove it to yourself by preparing for the outcome of your achievement. If your goal is to increase business and production – what are you doing to prepare for such an increase or production? If your goal is to find a mate – what are you doing to prepare yourself to receive a mate? Preparing to receive is a part of increasing your faith in God and yourself.
